The addition of this Lower ground floor entrance w

The addition of this Lower ground floor entrance was a huge undertaking on this project. The origial home was built upon a sloped site of loose sand on just brick on ground footing! It was hard to believe that the building was still standing. The process involved mostly hand excavation in many stages with strategic underpinning in between. We ultamatly tunnelled through the sub level foundation from the front to the back removing an estimated 50m3 of sand and all by hand and buckets! This made way for new entrance hallway, wine cellar, guest laundry and elevator.
